True sight

His eyes filling with tears, he looked at me, exclaiming, “Everyone needs to know about this!” This simple, hardworking farmer and his wife had travelled over eight hours to our city for eye surgery. But God had something far greater in store.

When they joined our Celebration Service — where our churches gather every few weeks — they immediately felt something different. Though they had attended mass faithfully all their lives, now in their seventies they were experiencing the presence of God for the first time.

When the invitation was given, they both stepped forward to follow Jesus. Within a few weeks, they were baptized — saying goodbye to their old life and beginning a new one with God.

The next day, at the bus terminal, on their way back to their farming community, they were already sharing their story with those around them. He thought he came to Baguio for eye surgery, but now he could truly see and he couldn't wait for others eyes to be opened.

Jesus told us to Go. These two have taken that call to heart —unstoppable and full of joy.
